Alcohol, drugs and substance misuse
The drug alcohol resettlement team (known as DART) is
part of the Youth Justice Board's Resettlement Aftercare Provision
aimed at young people on custodial sentences and community
penalties who have assessed substance misuse and dual diagnosis
needs, including health and mental health.
Its objective is to support the resettlement of this group of
young people in order to:
- address substance misuse issues
- reduce reoffending
- address other needs and vulnerabilities, for example, those surrounding accommodation, mental health, and education, training and employment and positive activities.
DART is a voluntary provision and not a condition of
bail, an order, or a sentence. It can be offered
to a young person at any point of their involvement in the youth
justice system. The programme is based around a
tailored plan targeting the needs of the individual.
