Modern Hauntings

Ghosts do not always have to haunt old buildings - they can simply have occupied the site since before modern buildings. Some of these modern hauntings in Peterborough include:

Phot of RAF Westwood in 1940sRAF Westwood

The Westwood area of Peterborough now covered by housing estates was once an RAF base - RAF Peterborough. It was used as a training base for pilots throughout the 1930s, up until 1948. Accidents happened during training, including a serious crash in 1936 when four men were killed. It is said their ghosts still haunt the area today. Activity reported in the area includes:
  • Sounds of phantom aircraft passing overhead
  • Ghostly airmen have been seen across the area
  • Strange footsteps are heard where there used to be airfield buildings.
