
Peterborough's Criminal Past brought to life...
In the summer of 2006 we launched a
new themed walk that explores the dark and
macabre part of our past - the Peterborough Crime & Punishment
walk.
On this tour your guide is a Victorian Policeman who will
lead you around the city centre and tell tales of
Peterborough's grim past. Find out where the city's gaols were and
about the appalling conditions inside. See where public hangings
and floggings took place - Peterborough was one of the last places
in mainland Britain to have public floggings. Discover the history
of the city police force, find out where someone really did read
the riot act, and find out about some of our most notorious
criminals...
The walks will take place on the following nights

Although tickets can be purchased on the night,
due to the popularity of the walks pre-booking is strongly
