Railcards
Peterborough residents can purchase
discounted Young Person's, Senior, and Disabled Person's Railcards
which allow 1/3 off many rail journeys.
WHERE CAN I PURCHASE OR RENEW MY RAILCARD?
You can purchase or renew your Railcard at the following
location:
- Travelchoice Centre, Queensgate Bus Station
(Please note: Proof of residency in Peterborough must be
provided when applying and postal applications cannot be made to
the above addresses).
You will need to fill in an application form,
show proof of age/disability, proof of residency in
Peterborough and pay the fee (cheques must be made payable to
Peterborough City Council) in order to obtain a Railcard or
Railcard Voucher. Leaflets are also available from these sites
which have further details on the three Railcards.
YOUNG PERSON'S RAILCARD
The Young Person's Railcard is available to all Peterborough
residents aged 16-25. The cost of this Railcard is £21.50 as
opposed to £26.00 (as from 17/05/2009) if purchased directly
from the Railway Station, and it entitles the cardholder to a 1/3
off many rail tickets. An applicant must provide proof of age and
proof of residency (e.g. passport/driving licence and a utility
bill/mobile phone bill). You will then be issued with a
voucher, which must be taken, along with a passport size photograph
and proof of age, to the Railway Station where they will issue the
applicant with a Young Person's Railcard which is valid for 1
year.

SENIOR RAILCARD
The Senior Railcard is available to all Peterborough residents
aged 60 and over. The cost of this Railcard is £21.50 as
opposed to £26.00 (as from 17/05/2009) if purchased directly
from the Railway Station and it entitles the cardholder to a 1/3
off many rail tickets. An applicant must provide proof of age and
proof of residency (e.g. passport/driving licence and a utility
bill). The issuing office will then issue the individual with a
Senior Railcard which is valid for 1 year.

DISABLED PERSON'S RAILCARD
The Disabled Person's Railcard is available to Peterborough
residents and costs £16.20 as opposed to £18.00 if
purchased directly from the Railway Station and it entitles the
cardholder to 1/3 off many rail tickets. If another adult is
travelling with you, they can also travel at the same discounted
fare.
Am I Eligible?
You can qualify for a Disabled Person's Railcard if you meet
one or more of the criteria below:
| Registered as blind or partially sighted |
| Registered deaf, or use an NHS hearing aid |
| Have epilepsy and have repeated attacks even though you receive drug treatment |
| Receive Attendance Allowance |
| Receive Disability Living Allowance (at the higher or lower rate for getting around (mobility) or at the higher or middle rate for help with personal care) |
| Receive Severe Disablement Allowance |
| Receive long-term Incapacity Benefit |
| Receive War Pensioner's Mobility Supplement |
| Receive War or Service Disablement Pension for 80% or more disability |
| Are buying or leasing a vehicle through the 'Motability' Scheme |
You will also need to show proof of residency. Peterborough
City Council will issue you with a Disabled Person's Railcard
Voucher which you will need to post to National Rail, along with
your proof of disability, and they will post your Railcard to you.
