People can easily become involved with arguments with their neighbours over all sorts of matters including noise. Peterborough Mediation is a free confidential service that may be able to help you to resolve such differences. They will listen to you and provide you with the chance to find a solution or an agreement with your neighbour. Experience shows that 80% of mediations results end in an agreement.  Peterborough Mediation is independent from any other agency or organisations.

Intruder alarms

You are responsible for premises where an intruder alarm is installed and should notify the local authority to nominate and register a key holder. (See form below) The key holder should be nearby, able to gain access and silence the alarm if it goes off accidentally. If an alarm  has been sounding continuously for more than 20 minutes or intermittently for more than an hour, and is judged to be giving reasonable cause for annoyance, an authorised officer of the local authority can serve an abatement notice and enter the premises to silence the alarm. The person responsible will be charged for any costs involved in stopping the nuisance.
