What is bail?
Bail is when a young person is released from custody
until the next available court date.
If bail is refused, this is because the court
believes that the young person, if released, is unlikely
to turn up for their next court appearance, may commit an
offence or take actions (i.e. contact a witness) that could
compromise the legal process.
There are two types of bail: conditional bail and unconditional bail.
