The Peterborough Festival - 2007
History
The Peterborough Festival has developed its
themes over the past few years, from 'Italia' in 2004, 'Flags of
All Nations' in 2005 and last year's 'Global Summer' when
Peterborough heralded a UK-first when we shared live performance
over the Internet from countries such as USA, Australia and
animation from Cuba.
Now in its 8th year, the Peterborough Festival
salutes our heroes and heroines of the past and present with the
2007 theme: 'Myths and Legends'. Instantly the theme conjures up
images of dragons and their slayers and the more romantic myths
from the ancient times... but we should also consider heroes and
legends of our own lifetime and place: Peterborough's Frank Perkins
and Sir Henry Royce, Film and Music idols and even your very own
mum.
This year we launch with our competition to name
and colour in our very own Festival dragon to win some amazing
prizes.
Just as the Festival changes, we look forward to
the future of Peterborough and the many developments that will take
place and new opportunities they will provide, from a new cultural
quarter by the River to a larger dynamic retail centre.
From hot award-winning short films to cool
afternoon world music, hot salsa and outdoor Shakespearian comedy,
Festival 2007 will bring nine days of fun to our city as it
celebrates!
Are you involved in this year's Festival? From a
profile-raising stall at Central Park to partying in the Procession
there are many opportunities for your school or group to be
involved with Festival 2007.
EVERYONE'S INVITED!
