Entertainment licensing
Local authorities are responsible for licensing of many
premises and entertainment activities.
In Peterborough these activities are licensed within the
Environment and Community Services department.
The following activities or premises are licensed under the Licensing Act 2003:
- Cinemas
- Theatres
- Premises providing late night refreshment
- Premises selling alcohol
A number of activities are licensed under the Gaming Act 1968
and Lotteries & Amusements Act 1976 in alcohol licensed
premises, these are:
- Gaming machines - Section 34 permits issued under the Gaming Act 1968
- Amusements with prizes - Section 16 issued under the Lotteries & Amusements Act 1976
- Authorisation of low-stake gaming - Section 6 of the Gaming Act 1968
Licenses and permits issued under the Gambling Act 2005
are:
- Gaming and Gaming Machine Permits for Pubs and Clubs
- Betting Shop Premises Licenses
- Bingo Premises Licenses
- Adult Gaming Centre and Licensed Family Entertainment Premises Licenses
- Family Entertainment Centre Gaming Machine Permits
- Track premises licenses
- Temporary Use Notices
- Occasional Use Notices
- Provisional Premises Licenses
