Taxi Rank Provision
Taxi ranks are provided on-street for use by hackney
carriages. They are provided where a demand has been identified,
such as outside large establishments like clubs, bus and rail
stations etc, or at locations where the public or taxi operators
have suggested they would be beneficial.
The main consideration in the location of taxi ranks is to
ensure they can be safely accommodated without conflicting with
other kerbside demands. They are sited so that
passengers board or alight from the taxi onto the footway on the
nearside of the vehicle.
Ranks can be operational for 24 hours or evening only.
The Council provides a number of dedicated taxi ranks at key locations close to retail centres and principal attractions. Taxi ranks are located at
