Out of Hours emergency service

If you find yourself homeless whilst the Housing Options service is closed, we operate an 'out of hours' service for emergencies. This line should not be used for queries about your housing register application or if you are not homeless that day.

When you call the Out of Hours number you will be put through to the central depot who will pass your details to the Housing Options Officer on duty. They will call you back as soon as they can, and ask you a few questions about your situation and how you have become homeless. It would help the duty officer if you can have as many details as you can available, ie, telephone numbers, crime reference numbers, etc.

If they feel that you are vulnerable they will be able to offer you temporary accommodation. If you are booked into temporary accommodation out of hours, you should come to Housing Options as soon as the office is open to make a formal homeless presentation. If you do not, your accommodation may be cancelled.

Please note that if you have already been into Housing Options during working hours for advice, the duty officer will not be able to offer you any further advice than you have already been given, unless you have had a change in circumstances.
