What is a child protection enquiry?
You may have been to a child protection
enquiry and you may have felt frightened and confused. We have
written this web page to answer any questions you may have. The
most important thing to remember is that you have done nothing
wrong. You are not in any kind of trouble. We want to see if you
need our help.
Who are we?
We are social workers. Our job is to listen to
what you want to tell us. Sometimes a police officer will come with
us. Don't be afraid to ask us questions at any time and to say what
you think should happen.
Why were we talking to you?
We talked to you to make sure you were OK.
Sometimes adults or other young people hurt children or make them
feel bad and afraid. This is not OK. Adults should not hurt
children. No one should hurt you.
What will happen next?
We talk to lots of children and young
people. They all have different things happening in
their families so what happens next will be different for
everyone.
Sometimes it might be a good idea to see a doctor
to check you are OK. Maybe you are worried about what will
happen to your family?
We understand your worries but we have to find
out more about you and your family before we can tell you what will
happen.
Here are some numbers you can ring if you want to talk to someone:
Childline (Freephone) 0800 1111
NSPCC (Freephone) 0808 800 5000
