Myths & Legends Exhibition
People have told tales round the campfire since the beginning
of human history, and the new hands-on exhibition at the Museum
explores some of these classic tales down the millennia. Visitors
can read dragon tales and solve the riddle to pass the dragon and
enter his lair, or visit an Egyptian tomb to unravel the story of
Osiris and mummies. There is a chance to build your own totem pole
and hear Native American stories, or explore our labyrinth and come
face-to-face with the fearsome Minotaur...
Local legends will also be explored, with information
on the wealth of myths concerning Peterborough and the Fens, from
ghostly jack-o-lanterns to the terrifying Black Shuck.Museum Exhibitions Officer for Peterborough City Council,
Karen Verdegaal says, 'This is a hands-on exhibition for all
the family to come and enjoy, and a chance to discover many
wonderful myths and legends from around the world. After all,
everyone loves a good story!'
The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday 9 February and
runs until Sunday 13 April 10am-5pm Tuesday Saturday, 12noon - 4pm
Sundays. On Mondays it is open 10am - 5pm during school holidays,
