Earn Cash......Recycle Glass!

Peterborough City Council is urging community groups charities and schools to become champion recyclers and earn extra cash by adopting one of the city's recycling bottle banks.

By adopting a bank, groups and charities will be responsible for publicising their bank and encouraging people to recycle more glass bottles and jars. In return for all their hard work, they will receive a financial reward based on the amount of glass collected from their allocated bank. This payment is based on the savings the city council makes from recycling the glass instead of sending it to landfill where this valuable resource would be lost.

In addition to encouraging people to recycle more, any group or charity which has adopted a bank will be responsible for reporting any damage to their bank to the city council, as well as when it needs to be emptied. The city council will continue to be responsible for the emptying of all adopted banks and cleansing the area where it is situated.
