People who are interested in working with children are invited
to spend a couple of hours at a fun and interactive theatre session
at Kingsgate Conference Centre, Staplee Way, Parnwell, Peterborough
on Friday 23 May 2008.
Peterborough City Council is delighted to welcome back Purple
Monster Training to the city to perform its interactive theatrical
presentation 'Working in Childcare'.
Purple Monster's 50-minute drama is based on the
SkillsActive/EYNTO course 'Making Choices'.
Actors will perform sketches showing life through the eyes of
children and childcare workers to encourage people to think about
how working in childcare can be a rewarding career.
The aim of the event is to encourage people from across the
Peterborough area to consider a career in childcare. It has been
organised by Peterborough City Council's early years and childcare
team which works with children from birth to 13 years.
The team is looking to recruit more playworkers, childminders,
nursery assistants, supervisors and managers and other roles
involving working with children.
Peterborough City Council's information strategy manager for
the early years and childcare team, Sherrie Courten, said: "These
events have always proved overwhelmingly successful in the past.
They provide an excellent opportunity for local people interested
in working with children to find out more about the wide range of
career paths on offer.
"We hope lots of people will book in to attend these
briefing sessions and decide to get involved in working with young
children to help make a real difference to children's lives."
There will be two sessions at 10am until 12 noon and from 2 pm
to 4 pm.
An information session will take place immediately after each
performance so that delegates can talk to representatives from the
early years and childcare team, Peterborough's Childcare
Information Service, Peterborough Regional College, Pre-School
Learning Alliance, Basic Skills Agency, Peterborough College of
Adult Education and Jobcentre Plus about training, benefits and
childcare issues.
Each delegate will be given a goodie bag to take home
containing information on career opportunities.
Anyone interested in finding out more should register through
the Childcare Information Service on 0800 29 89
121.
Ends.
