VIPs dust off their saddles for Bike Week 2008
City Council employees and VIPs showed their support for
National Bike Week 2008 by participating in a VIP Lunchtime Cycle
ride with picnic and a Cyclists' Breakfast. The events organised by
Travelchoice aimed to encourage more people to cycle through
highlighting the variety of off road cycle routes in Peterborough
and the benefits cycling can have on health and wellbeing.
The VIP Cycle Ride culminated in a tour and demonstration of
the Peterborough BMX Track at Orton Malbourne, which is gearing up
to host the British Championships in August. The BMX Track has made
several recent improvements thanks to Peterborough City Council
investment and is keen to illustrate the importance of this
facility for the local community. For more information, visit www.phantomsbmx.ukonline.co.uk.
Council staff that already cycle to work were rewarded with a
free breakfast from Café Nova, the Depot or Manor
Drive.
