Food Complaints

We will investigate complaints regarding food poisoning and foreign objects within food items, and food hygiene at any site where food is sold or manufactured.

To make a food complaint please contact Peterborough Direct

When making a complaint we will require from you the following information -

  • your name, address and telephone number (although complaints can be made anonymously)
  • the best time to contact you
  • the name and address of the business you are complaining about
  • brief details of what the complaint is about
  • proof of purchase where relevant

In the case of a complaint regarding an item of food -

  • please try to keep as much of the food as possible as well as any potential foreign body which may be of concern
  • the packaging and receipt also prove to be very useful during investigation so please try to provide these with the complaint itself
  • it is also of importance to store the food concerned appropriately until it is in our care, for example in the refrigerator or freezer

You can of course deal with a complaint yourself by returning to the trader concerned and explaining your problem.   It is also a good idea to put your complaint in writing and always keep a copy of the letter.

Confidentiality

All complaints will be treated in the strictest confidence.   We will not disclose any of your personal details without your permission to do so (we may not be able, however, to take any formal or legal action without this information).   We will endeavour to inform you of progress with the investigation and will advise you of the final outcome.
