1. Is my child eligible for denominational
transport?
To qualify for subsidised denominational transport to St John
Fisher School your child must fulfil all of the following
criteria:
- Live in the Peterborough City Council area (pay Council Tax to the city council)
- Be baptised Roman Catholic. A copy of the Certificate of Baptism must be attached to this form for the application for transport to be considered.
- Live beyond the specified walking distance which is three miles for secondary pupils.
- Be able to complete the journey in 75 minutes.
If you do not meet the above criteria and your child
is entitled to free school meals, or your family is in receipt of
their maximum level of Working Tax Credit you will need to complete
a different application form (Transport Application for Low Income
Families).
2. What is the parental contribution for subsidised denominational transport?
The contribution (which is subject to a yearly review) is as
follows:
£46 per term per family for a return journey
£138 per year per family for a return journey
£23 per half term per family for a return journey
£23 per term per family for a one way journey
£69 per year per family for a one way journey
3. What happens if my child changes school or we move
house?
You must notify the Integrated Passenger Transport Unit
immediately to check if you are still eligible for help with
transport. If your child no longer requires his or her bus pass,
please return it to this team.
4. I am not sure if my child is eligible for free
or denominational transport?
If you are not sure whether your child is entitled to free or
subsidised denominational transport please telephone 01733 747474
and ask to speak to the Integrated Passenger Transport Unit.
5. Will I be sent a reminder when my child's bus pass
needs renewing?
No. All parents are responsible for ensuring that their child
is in possession of a valid bus pass and must ensure that payment
is made 10 working days prior to the commencement of the travel
period.
Note to parent/carer: If you have a permanent
disability which prevents you from taking your child to school,
then your child may be eligible for transport assistance.
