Peterborough's aim is to bring services closer to you,
putting all services in one place, so that it is easier for you and
your family to get the services, advice, help and information you
require in one go. The following
services are the core services provided by all Children's Centres.
All Children's Centres are different, because they meet the needs
of the local community. Your local centre may offer extra services,
so it's a good idea to find out more!
Early Education and
Childcare
- Early learning opportunities and childcare for babies and children up to 5 years old
- Groups and activities to help support your child's learning
- Support for local childminders
- Support for children with special needs and disabilities
- Links to local schools and out of school activities
Family Support
Services
- Information about local family support services and activities
- Help and support with parenting
- Specialist help for families who need it, e.g. support for families of children with special needs
- Support and help for fathers
Family Health
Services
- Ante-natal advice, help and support
- Encouraging a healthy lifestyle, including healthy eating advice and help to stop smoking
- Help to improve your emotional well-being, including support for women with post-natal depression
Job Hunting and
Learning
- Links with Jobcentre Plus, Connexions and Next Step to support parents/carers who will to consider training or employment
- Work in partnership with Children's Information Services in providing information on local childcare and early years education
Parental
Involvement
- Consultation with parents about what services are needed locally
- A voice for local parents e.g. parents groups or forums
