Extended Schools

What is an Extended School?

Extended schools provide access to a range of services and activities - often beyond the school day - to help meet the needs of pupils, their families and the wider community.  Peterborough is offering a wider range of activities and support, using school buildings and other local facilities.

The core offer of extended services available in Peterborough by 2001:

  • All Secondary schools will be open from 8am-6pm all year round, offering a range of activities and services for pupils, their families and members of the community.
  • A varied menu of study support activities
  • Parenting support and family learning
  • Swift and easy referral to a wide range of specialist support services
  • Community access to ICT, sports and arts facilities, including adult learning
