Peterborough's street wardens are spearheading a clean-up
operation around the Peterborough market with the help of cleansing
operatives from Peterborough City Council's city services division
and market traders on Thursday (7 August) from 10 am.
The area around the city's covered market, which includes
Laxton Square, will be targeted in the clean-up as everybody
involved aims to improve the area. Any litter will be removed and
the graffiti busting team from city services will remove any
graffiti. In addition to the clean-up, flower beds around the city
market will be tidied-up making the makeover complete.
Street warden Denise Mayes said: "Cleansing operatives do a
fantastic job throughout the city centre on a daily basis making it
a wonderful place to work or to visit. However, we thought the area
around the city's covered market could do with some extra special
attention.
"By working with our colleagues in city services and the
market traders, we hope that the additional clean-up will improve
the area further for those who work there and for the thousands of
shoppers who visit the area."
Ends.
