Revenues and Benefits

  • The Revenues Service is responsible for the billing and collection of National Non-Domestic Rates (NNDR) and Council Tax. It is also responsible for the collection of overpaid Housing Benefit.
  • The Benefits Service is responsible for the administration of claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit from customers within the Peterborough area.

 

All customer contact is dealt with by the Peterborough Direct Call Centre for telephones and for 'face to face' at the Customer Services Centre based at Bayard Place.
 

Performance

The current caseload is just under 16,000 claims for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit consisting mainly of Rent Allowance claims (9,000 Housing Association claims) and Council Tax Claims (14,000 claims).
We are also responsible for billing and collecting 72 thousand households and 6 thousand businesses within the authority's area.
The Benefits Service achieved a CPA self assessment score of 4 out of 4 for 3 out of the last 4 years and the Revenues Team has collected the highest amount of Council Tax outstanding twice in the last 3 years.

  • Collection rate for Council Tax 97.00%
  • Collection rate for NNDR 98.00%
