Peterborough teenager Louis Smith will be celebrating his
achievements at the Beijing Olympic Games at a civic reception
hosted by Mayor of Peterborough Councillor Pat Nash at Peterborough
Town Hall on Thursday (25 September 2008).
Councillor Nash will be meeting with Louis and his close
friends and family for a small private reception in the Mayor's
Parlour at the Town Hall, Bridge Street, Peterborough at 4
pm.
Members of the public will be invited to meet the athlete who
will be posing for photographs and signing autographs in the
Reception Room at the Town Hall at 5 pm.
Councillor Nash said: "Louis is an inspiration to all of us
and especially to the young people of the city who can see what can
be achieved with effort, determination and commitment. I am proud
to be honouring him and I hope lots of local people will come along
after the civic reception to meet him."
Louis won bronze in the men's pommel horse event at the
Beijing Olympic Games this summer to hand Great Britain its first
Olympic gymnastics medal in 80 years.
