Peterborough City Council is celebrating after being
shortlisted for a prestigious national award for its recently
revamped civic newspaper, Your Peterborough.
The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), the
professional organisation for communications, shortlisted Your
Peterborough in the publications category of the Local Government
Excellence in Communications Awards 2008.
Councillor Matthew Dalton, the city council's cabinet member
for customer focus and communications, said: "This national
recognition demonstrates the excellent work being carried out by
the authority to communicate with its residents. Your
Peterborough provides people with up-to-date relevant information
about the city and how the council is meeting its priorities. It
also gives readers the opportunity to feed back their views and get
involved."
Your Peterborough was recently relaunched in magazine format
following consultation with local people.
Caroline Parsons, head of communications said: "This is a
great achievement for the team and we have worked really hard to
get to this position. We received excellent feedback from our
residents which confirms our decision to revamp Your Peterborough
was the right approach to take."
The winners will be announced at the CIPR Local Government
Awards in Bath on 17 October 2008.
Ends.
