Front-line staff working in Peterborough City Council's
customer service centre will be raising awareness about the
importance of good customer service as part of National Customer
Service Week (Monday 6 October 2008 to Sunday 12 October
2008).
City council chief executive Gillian Beasley will be working
alongside customer service officers in the call centre at the
Customer Service Centre in Bayard Place and Mark Sandhu, the city
council's head of customer services, will be manning the reception
desk at Peterborough Register Office.
There will also be a display in the reception area of Bayard
Place to inform people more about the services they can access
there.
Councillor Matthew Dalton, cabinet member for customer focus
and communications, said: "The underpinning principle of everything
the city council does is to make sure all our services are as
efficient, accessible and effective as possible and good customer
service is the key to achieving this.
"National Customer Service Week is about celebrating the very
good work that customer service staff undertake on behalf of the
council, in delivering services to customers.
"The week also gives an opportunity to raise awareness within
the council of how important customer service is in improving and
maintaining our reputation within the community."
Staff in the customer service centre answered about 350,000
calls and served more than 170,000 visitors to the customer service
centre between 1 April 2007 and 31 March 2008.
Ends.
