Peterborough City Council and National Express East Coast
managers will be exchanging ideas into the running of public
toilets when a workshop is held in the city on Friday (10 October
2008).
David Denson, city services head of operations, and Robert
Griggs, head of property design and maintenance, will be joined by
the cabinet member for city services Councillor David Sanders for
the briefing.
They will explain the work involved in providing public
toilets for residents and visitors to the city, as well as giving
the representatives a tour of the facilities at Car Haven and
Northminster car parks.
Director of city services Mike Heath said: "We're delighted to
be able to facilitate the National Express East Coast managers'
workshop and show them how we do things in Peterborough. It is a
great example of partnership working and sharing best
practice."
The workshop will involve about eight managers who are based
at railway stations on the East Coast mainline from Peterborough to
Dunbar.
Margaret Drinkwater, National Express East Coast's station
manager for Peterborough, said: "We have a new-look management team
at Peterborough station and are always looking at fresh ways in
which we can improve the environment for our customers.
"With a new cleaning contract about to be introduced on our
trains and stations, we look forward to sharing best practice with
the council, particularly around maintaining the upkeep and
cleanliness of public toilets."
Guy Dangerfield, Passenger Focus manager, added: "Passengers
deserve clean, well-maintained toilets when travelling by train and
Passenger Focus is pleased to have facilitated this week's exchange
of best practice ideas between Peterborough City Council and
National Express East Coast."
Ends.
