Worming Your Dog
Worms can affect dogs of all ages and there may be no symptoms
to indicate they have them. Worms can be picked up from other
dogs and the outside environment.
An adult dog should be wormed every six months, except;
- Puppies. Worm at 3, 6, 9, 12 weeks, especially for roundworm and then every 6 months
- Expectant bitches. Worm every 2 weeks whilst pregnant and every three weeks whilst feeding the puppies.
Risks through not worming will include sickness, diarrhea,
poor growth and stomach disorders. Some worms such as Toxicara
canis can be transmitted to people, especially children.
A broad-spectrum worming tablet is available from Pet shops
and Vets, which will cover all types of worms. These should be used
in accordance with the instructions only.
