Socialising And Training

This is very important. It will teach the dog to understand what it is and is not allowed to do. Dogs have thousands of years of instinct and behaviour built into them. The dog needs to know that you are the one it must obey and the rules you set. This can only be done with love, firmness and patience.
There are many pitfalls. If the dog shows aggression to other dogs or people, it should not be caressed by the owner but corrected.

The common mistake is a soft voice and a pat. This message to the dog is telling it that this is what you want it to do. A stern correcting voice, with a simple to understand 'no' gives the dog a direct message of correction.

A dog should be taught basic commands, to include;

  • Sit
  • Stay
  • Down
  • Leave
  • Come here
  • Heel
  • No

We can offer advice and contact details of training classes.
