Bulky Waste and Electrical Goods Collection Service

Free Collection Service

We now collect all types of electrical items (however small) for recycling as well as collecting bulky items from residential premises. If you are unable to transport an item to the Peterborough Householders' Recycling Centre at Dogsthorpe we will do it for you. For non chargeable collections you can apply now by completing our online form, or ring your request through to Peterborough Direct on 01733 747474.  You can also complete the Bulky Items and Electrical Goods Collection Service form and post it to Bayard Place.  These forms are available from the Town Hall, other council offices and libraries.

Each financial year (April-March) we will provide one free collection per household, of up to five items of household waste.  These items are those that you would commonly take with you from inside your house when moving.  In instances of uncertainty as to whether an item is deemed chargeable for collection, the council has the final decision. This free collection can be of up to 5 of the items listed below or, if you place a number of small electrical items into a strong bag these will count as ONE ITEM. Examples of small electrical items are calculators, hairdryers, toasters, shavers, mobile phones, etc.

Examples of free items:  TV's, videos, HiFi's, computers, prams, pushchairs, carpets, mattresses, cardboard, washing machines, cookers, refrigerators, furniture (where a suite contains more than one item each item will be counted individually).

Please leave items outside from 7.00am onwards, where you would normally leave your bin for collection.  Please be careful  not to cause an obstruction to pedestrians.

Items may be collected by a separate vehicle as electrical goods are taken to a facility to be recycled and other items are taken to landfill, so please be aware that your items may be collected at separate times.
