NEWS/PHOTOCALLTHURSDAY, 18 JULY, 6.45PMCATHEDRAL SQUARE, PETERBOROUGHLOCAL "HARRY POTTER" ACTOR LAUNCHES NEW MOBILE LIBRARYLocal actor 'Warwick Davis' will launch Peterborough City Council Library's new mobile library at 6.45pm on Thursday, 18 July, in Cathedral Square, Peterborough.
Warwick Davis is well-known for his appearances in the Star Wars films 'Returnof the Jedi' and Star Wars, Episode one, "The Phantom Menace", as well as 'Labyrinth', 'Willow' and most recently as Professor Flitwick and the Goblin Teller in 'Harry Potter'. The new mobile library replaces the original vehicle put into service thirteen years ago. It is equipped with all the latest facilities andtechnology. As well as a wide selection of books, videos and music, there isalso space for laptop computers that can be installed at very short notice.
The versatility of the equipment means the vehicle can be used for a wide range of purposes, such as a mobile training unit. Display boards can also be slotted in over the shelves to provide an instant display and exhibition space.
Richard Hemmings, Library's Customer Services Manager for Peterborough City Council said, "We are delighted to be able to offer our customers an improved and safer service with more flexibility. We are very excited about the new range of facilities we will now be able to utilise."
The vehicle also provides easier access steps and a wheelchair lift. Heating,cool air fans and improved lighting have also been installed to make the library comfortable to visit whatever the weather conditions.
The exterior is easy to spot with its bold, contemporary, eye-catchingdesigns created by local graphic designer, Aaron Henderson who will also beattending the launch.
