Premises Licence
This licence allows the holder to use specified 'licensed premises' for 'licensable activities' i.e. the sale and supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment. The new licence will be of unlimited duration unless otherwise requested (see also Temporary Event Notices).
The key change that licensees are able to make is with regard
to operating times. As you are no doubt aware, there are no longer
statutory limitations to the hours or days during which businesses
are able to provide 'licensable activities' i.e. the sale and
supply of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night
refreshment. It is the responsibility of your local authority to
decide whether the operating times (and all other conditions) for
which licensees apply, are granted in the licence.
Application Information
An application will need to include:
- A plan of the premises
- An 'operating schedule' including details of the licensable activities; operating times; the 'premises supervisor' where supply of alcohol is requested; whether any alcohol is to be consumed on / off premises; and the steps which the licensee will take to promote the four licensing objectives (the government may also prescribe other details)
- A fee - fee levels are likely to be set by the Secretary of State and we will advise once the information is made available.
You are also required to advertise the proposed changes and
provide notification to relevant responsible
authorities.
Forms for making such an application are available on the application forms page.
More in depth information and guidance is available on the further guidance page.
Application Decision Making
The licensing authority will grant the premises licence unless
there are relevant representations made which need to be considered
in a hearing. The result of a hearing may be either to grant the
premises licence or to reject it.
