Health and safety
The Health and Safety team within Peterborough City Council is
responsible for enforcing health and safety legislation in offices,
retail shops, warehouses, catering services, leisure and recreation
industry and consumer services.
Health and Safety enforcement in Agriculture, Construction,
Education, Manufacturing and Public Services is the responsibility
of the Health and safety Executive (HSE), the regional office
for Peterborough is in Luton and they can be contacted on

What Is Our Role?
The role of the health and safety team is summarised below:-
- Inspect workplaces and enforce the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- Investigate health and safety complaints made by the public and employees
- Investigate accidents at work
- Investigate Statutory notifications of asbestos removal and unsafe lifting equipment in premises
- Provide information and guidance to businesses and the public through seminars, an annual newsletter and a health and safety consultation group.
