The registration of death can be effected by appointment at Peterborough Register Office between 9.30am
- 3.30am Monday to Friday. However, it is recognised that some
members of the community require a funeral to take place as quickly
as possible. A registrar can be contacted by telephoning the
Peterborough City Council emergency number (01733 551386). However,
contact should be restricted to daytime hours.
The death certificate is issued by the foreign registration
authority and should be taken to the registrar of the district in
which the burial or cremation is taking place.
The registrar has to issue a document called a 'certificate of
no liability to register'. This is the document that will be given
to the funeral director in order to allow the funeral to
proceed.
