What is the Audit Commission?
This is how the Audit Commission describe themselves on the

We are an independent public body responsible for ensuring that public money is spent economically, efficiently, and effectively in the areas of local government, housing, health, criminal justice and fire and rescue services.
Our missionOur mission is to be a driving force in the improvement of public services. We promote good practice and help those responsible for public services to achieve better outcomes for citizens, with a focus on those people who need public services most.
Our valuesOur values underpin all that we do:
- promoting the delivery of high-quality public services
- achieving excellence and value for money in our own work

Our work relates most closely to that of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Department of Health and the National Assembly for Wales.

the Supporting People service as
"a one-star service that has 'promising' prospects
for improvement"
