Commercial Waste and Recycling

The Environmental Protection Act 1990 requires all businesses to have proper arrangements in place for the disposal of their waste.

All businesses that produce 'controlled waste' (that is all forms of commercial and industrial waste) will be subject to what is called the 'Duty of Care'. This means that you must, by law, take all reasonable steps to look after any waste you have and prevent its escape or illegal disposal by others.

Fly tipping is illegal and the offence carries heavy fines and a criminal record.

Peterborough City Council offers a Trade Waste and Recycling Service for all businesses in the Peterborough area. It offers a reliable local service at competitive rates and can accommodate flexible arrangements.
