Tenders and Contracts
The Council currently spends around £100 million on the
procurement of services works and goods each
year. Effective procurement of these is seen as
absolute key to securing the services, works and goods required to
meet the changing needs of users and citizens and the achievement
of Best Value.
In achieving Best Value, the Council is continually
looking for ways to improve its economy, efficiency and
effectiveness and a key aspect of this will be to improve the way
it works, both corporately and in partnership with others to
aggregate its requirements to obtain added value both in terms of
cost and quality.
The Council has adopted a strategic approach to its
procurement and commissioning activities recognising the positive
contribution effective procurement can make to the achievement of
the core aims and objectives of the Corporate Strategy. The
Strategic Procurement Unit has produced a Procurement Strategy which is aligned
to meet both the National Procurement Strategy and Corporate
Strategy.
