Peterborough City Council Natural
Environment Grant Scheme 2008/09

The City Council is again in a position to offer support to
parish councils, tree and pond wardens, and other organisations to
carry out environmental projects in the Peterborough area. As in
previous years the grant can cover 75% of the cost of a project
which has a maximum value of £300. This means that the
maximum grant available will be £225, which could be used
entirely to purchase project materials with an applicants
contribution being to use the materials to carry the project
out.
Making an application:
- application forms and information sheets can be downloaded below
- completed application forms must be returned by 6th October 2008
- applicants should submit a plan of the proposed works accompanied by three quotes for the cost of the work/materials
- successful applicants will be notified in writing by the 1st of November and should then implement their project
- on completion of the project, receipts should be sent to us, to claim back up to 75% of the project cost
- claims must be submitted to us by the 13th February 2009 at the latest
- a cheque to reimburse the agreed amount will be sent
One of the main aims of the scheme is to provide for long-term
improvements in the environment for people and wildlife. A series
of action plans for threatened local habitats and species can be
viewed on the Cambridgeshire County Council website.
We are particularly keen to encourage applications that
help to safeguard or extend habitats in line with the actions
within these plans and particularly where a project would
contribute to the conservation and long term positive management of
County Wildlife Sites. The locations of County Wildlife Sites can
be found on the City Councils website: http://hawkeye.peterborough.gov.uk/hawkeye/default.aspx.
Further information with respect to these sites can be
provided upon request, however please note that many of these sites
are not publicly accessible without the landowners
permission.
Should you wish to discuss a scheme that you have
in mind or would like a word version of the application
form please contact the City Council's Wildlife Officer on
01733 453400.
