A guide for rates, fees and the use of the pedestrian area

Commercial promotions
Cathedral Square is ideal for large-scale product launches and commercial promotions. Situated adjacent to the city's main shopping centre, Queensgate, it offers the largest open space in the City's pedestrian area.
Bridge Street, the traditional 'High Street' in Peterborough, provides locations for smaller promotions along its length. Retailers include Costa Coffee, Delifrance, H Samuel, Marks & Spencer, Starbucks Coffee, Waterstones, W H Smith and Woolworths.
To seek availability, telephone the City Centre Services office on 01733 - 452288.

Free use

Many charitable and non-commercial organisations use the pedestrian area to provide information to the public. Council policy permits such organisations free use of the pedestrian area on six dates throughout the year (subject to availability) usually situated in Long Causeway.

Public address equipment

The use of public address or amplification equipment will not be allowed without prior agreement.

Buskers and pavement artists
Buskers are welcome within the pedestrian area subject to adhesion to the Busker's 'Code of Conduct'. Copies are available at the Town Hall Information desk or from the address on this leaflet.

Market research, canvassers, professional fundraisers

Many companies value the opportunity to conduct Market Research within the pedestrian area. To avoid being inundated, we require all Market Research and Catalogue companies to register with the Council and pay the fee shown below (where appropriate). Time share companies are not permitted.

Street and house to house collections
The city centre services office is responsible for the issue of street & house to house collection permits. For an application form, telephone 01733 - 452288.
