Preliminary Enquiries - Householder

Advice before making applications

Are you thinking of extending your home? If you want to know whether you require planning permission or not you can fill out our Householders Enquiry Form.

The advice given will be accurate and objective but will be without prejudice to the formal consideration of an application by the Council. We will give you information about relevant planning policies and previous decisions and, where appropriate, our standards for such matters as parking provision, amenity space etc. We will also advise you about the likely time-scale for dealing with a planning application and the procedures to follow.

Peterborough City Council encourage pre-application discussions. The Duty Planning Officer is available from Monday-Friday 9am-5pm to discuss your initial ideas or proposed application. Alternatively, put your ideas in a letter or fill out the Householders Enquiry Form below and we will reply within 10-14 working days.
