Benefit fraud team performance
In the financial year 2006/2007, Peterborough City Council's Benefit Fraud Team administered:
10 formal cautions and 53 administrative
penalties.
The administrative penalties have seen the fraud team bring an
extra £18,414.79 in fines back to the public purse.
Between 1 April 2005 and 31 March 2006, we have we
successfully prosecuted 27 people this financial year.
The total overpayment of housing benefit and council tax
benefit raised and coded as fraud in 2005/6 was £308,507.
This is in addition to over £200,000 identified in fraudulent
overpayments for other benefits such as Income Support and
Jobseeker's Allowance.
