Employment and training

Research indicates that there is a close relationship between young people being out of education and their involvement in criminal and anti-social activities. Engagement in adequate and appropriate education reduces these behaviours.

 

The education team within the Youth Offending Service works to maintain young people in full time appropriate education. This involves closes liaison with education providers within the city, Connexions, the Attendance Service and Learning and Standards officers. Attendance is closely monitored.

 

The Youth Offending Service also offers literacy and numeracy support to young people through the Shark project.
