Road safety training
There is a range of training courses currently available,
which include
- pedestrian training
- cycle training
- motorcycle training delivered in partnership with Cambridgeshire Constabulary
Pedestrian
Training
is offered to reception children and an adult partner in
participating schools. The training involves a short walk around
the local school environment to introduce the key road safety
message 'Stop, Look and Listen' to help children stay safe on their
journey to school.
Cycle Training
Cycling is a fun, convenient and healthy way to get around -
but if you don't follow basic safety guidelines the results can be
very serious. The Safer Cycling Scheme is available free of charge
for primary pupils aged 10 and over in schools with a trained
instructor. If you would like to find out more information about
becoming a cycle instructor, please contact the Road Safety Team on
01733 453417. Full training is given and a small fee is paid for
each course delivered.
Motorcycle Training
It is a sad fact that the number of motorcycle
casualties on our roads has increased significantly in recent
years. The Road Safety Team runs an enhanced riding skills course
in partnership with Cambridgeshire Constabulary. The course
supports the BikeSafe initiative and is delivered by advanced
police motorcyclists. Topics covered include:
- what makes a good rider
- the system of motorcycle control
- cornering
- positioning
- overtaking
- group riding
At the end of the course there is an opportunity to undertake
an assessed ride under the guidance of a police motorcyclist. For
further information please contact the Road Safety Team on (01733)
