travel to work by car (Travel to Work Survey 2004). This proportion
is expected to grow unless something is done to promote the
alternatives available.
Employers have an important role to play in creating travel
choice and making it easier for employees not to be reliant on the
car. Simple measures such as car sharing schemes, loans to help
employees buy season tickets and secure cycle parking, can make a
big difference to an employee wishing to leave their car at
home.
