Street Works Co-ordination
Peterborough City Council has Highway Authority for the
Peterborough area and is responsible for the co-ordination of all
works and events taking place on the public highway that could have
an effect on the roads or footways.
Regular liaison meetings are held between the organisations
working in the highway and wherever possible works are planned to
avoid conflict. However there will be occasions when unforeseeable
emergency situations may occur which can not be planned for.
In these instances when appropriate the public will be advised
through press releases to the local media to warn of potential
problems.
The following matters are co-ordinated:
- Highway maintenance schemes
- Highway improvement schemes
- Public utilities works
- Private works in the highway (sewer connections etc)
- Temporary road closures
- Temporary speed limits
- Skips that are sited on the highway
- Scaffolds that are sited on the highway
- Special events such as parades etc.
