Under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) can cover a wide range of issues on which the planning authority wishes to provide guidance to supplement the policies and proposals in Development Plan Documents (DPDs). They will not form part of the Development Plan or be subject to independent examination. They will form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF).

The first SPD to be produced, as indicated in the Local Development Scheme, was 'The Location and Design of Major Waste Management Facilities', which was adopted on 28, April 2006.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) - The Location and Design of Major Waste Management Facilities

The document has been prepared to assist in the delivery of high quality sustainable waste management facilities. The document sets out a series of key development principles based on recognised good planning and design practice.

The SPD has been subject to a sustainability appraisal (SA) against social, environmental and economic objectives. The Sustainabilty Appraisal Report below documents this.

A Sustainability Appraisal Commentary on the Schedule of Representations and proposed amendments to the Draft SPD was produced to complete the sustainability appraisal of the SPD.

The Sustainability Appraisal Commentary should be read in conjunction with the Full SA Report produced above.
