Post 16 Transport Partnership
The Post 16 Transport Partnership comprises of
Council education and transport officers, local sixth form centres
and colleges, the Learning Skills Council and Connexions. The
Partnership works together to develop ideas and plans to make the
most effective use of funding allocated by the Department for
Education and Skills.It has funded initiatives such as:
- Cycle training and provision of cycles, safety gear at Marshfields School
- Advertising college and post 16 centre transport on bus sideliners, newspapers and radio advertising
- Secure cycle compounds at Peterborough Regional College, Orton Longueville School, Marshfields School and Arthur Mellows Village College
- Provision of a minibus to the Northern Federation schools
- Seminars on promoting independence training to school staff
- Dramatisation of a book promoting safe transport
- A CD-ROM for students to raise awareness of various transport services to colleges and sixth forms.
Through these initiatives the Partnership aims to
encourage more sustainable transport for students to colleges and
sixth form centres, improve student retention rates, enhancement
students achievement, promote mobility and independence of students
and develop transport services for students with special
