A number of bus services operate in the rural areas
surrounding Peterborough. This page gives
details of services provided in the villages around
Peterborough.
Local Link bus
services

A number of the services supported by Peterborough City
Council are now branded as Local Link. These services provide
connections with other Local Link services at Queensgate Bus
Station.
These services are normally operated by low-floor easy
access buses.
On these services, return and season tickets issued by other
operators running parallel services will be accepted for
travel. Day tickets and weekly tickets are
available for travel on any Local Link service. Stagecoach DayRider
tickets are valid on some sections of the routes. However, please
check with the driver before traveling.
Local Link 401 (link to timetable) is operated by
Peterborough City Council on Mondays to Fridays using a wheelchair
accessible vehicle. This service operates from Thornhaugh, via
Wittering, Stamford St Martins, Barnack, Bainton, Ufford, Marholm,
Bretton Centre, Kings School to Peterborough with one journey in
each direction that co-incides with school times at Kings
School.
Local Link 402 (link to timetable)
is operated by Peterborough City Council on Mondays to Fridays
using a wheelchair accessible vehicle. This service operates at
peak times between, Ailsworth, Southorpe, Ufford, Bainton, Barnack,
Uffington, Stamford Hospital and Stamford Bus Station.
On college days, this service operates via
Stamford College. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays there are
additional journeys between Stamford and Ailsworth which continue
via Castor, Bretton Centre and Edith Cavell Hospital to Queensgate
Bus Station
Local Link 403 (link to timetable)
is operated by Veolia Transport on behalf of Peterborough City
Council. This service operates from Queensgate via District
Hospital, Edith Cavell Hospital, Bretton Centre, Marholm, Ufford,
Barnack, Bainton and Helpston to Maxey. On schooldays this service
operates via John Clare Primary School at Helpston.
Local Link 404 (link to timetable)
is operated by Peterborough City Council and includes an early
morning journey and an afternoon journey from Peterborough to
Stamford via Wittering and return via Collyweston. On school days
this service extends to St John Fisher School.
On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, there are additional
journeys at fixed times between Stamford, Wothorpe, Easton on the
Hill, Collyweston, Duddington, Wansford, Ailsworth, Castor, Bretton
Centre, Edith Cavell Hospital and Peterborough.
Local Link 411 (link to timetable) is
operated by Peterborough City Council on Mondays to Saturdays
using a wheelchair accessible vehicle. This service provides an
hourly service from Queensgate bus station to Newborough via
Dogsthorpe. One of the morning journeys has been extended to serve
Werrington Centre. An early morning journey is operated from Etton,
Helpston, Maxey, Northborough, Glinton, Peakirk and Newborough to
King's School and Queensgate bus station with afternoon journeys
returning to these points.
Local Link 413 (link to timetable) is
operated by Veolia Transport on behalf of Peterborough City
Council. This service operates from Queensgate, Millfield, Walton,
Werrington Centre, Milking Nook, Peakirk, Glinton, Northborough and
Maxey. On schooldays this service operates via Arthur Mellows
Village College.
Sunday Services
A limited number of rural bus services are operated on Sundays
and Bank Holidays. The majority of these services only operate
every 2 hours.

Local Link 404 Sunday Service (link to timetable)
is operated by Peterborough City Council and provides a link
to the surrounding countryside to enable city residents to access
the rural areas. In addition, it provides a service from Stamford
to Peterborough. During the mornings this service operates two
journeys from Stamford via Wittering, Wansford, Ailsworth, Castor,
Bretton Centre, Edith Cavell Hospital, Netherton, Peterborough
District Hospital and Peterborough and returns via Peterborough
District Hospital, Netherton, Edith Cavell Hospital, Bretton
Centre, Castor, Ailsworth, Wansford, Duddington, Collyweston,
Easton on the Hill, Wothorpe and Stamford.
During the afternoons two journeys operate in the opposite
direction.
The Peterborough Bus Walkers branch of the Rambler's
Association regularly organise walks using local bus services,
particularly on Sundays. Further details can be found on the Ramblers

Cross-County
Cross County is a partnership between Rutland County Council,
Peterborough City Council and the bus operators to provide a high
quality network of bus services operating low-floor easy access
buses. A day-rover ticket allows unlimited travel throughout the
network.

The main routes, which operate hourly are:
Veolia Transport service RF1, between Oakham, Uppingham
and Corby
Veolia Transport service RF2, between Oakham and Melton
Mowbray.
Connections are available at Oakham with Veolia Transport
Service 19 to Nottingham. Day-rover tickets are valid on this
service.
