Pesticide Ban
Some common garden chemicals have
been banned since December 2003.
Householders need to consider the safe disposal of these
chemicals. Storage of these chemicals was permitted up to
31st March 2004, but should of been disposed of by
now.
- Never dispose of these chemicals down lavatories, drains, near ponds, watercourses, ditches or wildlife habitats.
- Do not dispose of these chemicals in your wheeled refuse bins
- Only empty and washed chemical containers should ever be disposed of in your normal refuse collection. Washings from products should be used in the garden as directed on the container
- Take hazardous household and garden chemicals to the drop off facilities at the Householders Recycling Centre, Welland Road, Dogsthorpe.

2,3,6 TBA (2,3,6-trichlorobenzoic acid)
Normally used in herbicides, as a salt or ester, for example
2,3,6-TBA sodium.
Triforine (1,4-bis
(2,2,2-trichloro-1-formamidoethyl)piperazine)
Normally used in commercially available fungicides.
Resmethrin ((5-Benzyl-3-furyl)methyl
2,2-dimethyl-3(2-methylpropenyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate
This is normally used in insecticides and are synthetic
versions of natural insecticides found in chrysanthemum
flowers.
Tar Acids
Widely used in disinfectants, and timber treatment
chemicals
Dichlorprop (2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)propionic acid)
This compound is often used as a salt or ester in
herbicides.
