Older Persons Accommodation Strategy
As people get older most want to remain living in their own
homes.
We recognise the need to increase the choices available for
older people by:-
- Supporting people who wish to remain living in their own homes
- Increasing access to aids, adaptations and other support available for people at home
- Ensuring that people who need care support have the opportunity to continue to live as independently as possible in a home of their own
- Addressing the needs of black and ethnic minority groups when planning accommodation services for older people
The Greater Peterborough Primary Care Partnership has
responsibility for six residential care homes and is working in
partnership to develop an extra care sheltered housing scheme, due
to open in 2006
Working together with Peterborough City Council we are
currently reviewing all the existing accommodation, with support,
that is offered. We are consulting with our partners and the public
to consider the options for the future.
The consultation period began in November 2005 and ended in
February 2006, where we asked for our partners and the public's
views on the strategy.
