Dead Animals Frequently Asked Questions
Where does Peterborough City Council remove dead animals from?
Dead animals can be collected and removed from public highways and council owned land. We are unable to collect animals from private land, commercial premises or home addresses.
What happens to the dead animals when they are removed?
All animals, once removed, are disposed of as quickly as
possible for health and hygiene reasons. Please note that we are
unable to keep dead animals for private burial.
Does the council keep a record of the dead animals removed?
Brief details are recorded on a database of the deceased
animals such as date of find, description of animal and any
identifying marks or tags. The information is kept on our database
for a period of six months.
How do I report or request the removal of a dead animal from the public highway or council owned land?
If you need to report a dead animal on public highways or
council owned land, please either:

Provide details of the location or address, a brief description such as type, colour and size and the date and time you saw the dead animal.
Can I use this service to report problems with live animals?
This service is strictly for the collection of dead animals.
We provide separate Animal Warden and Pest Control services for
problems with live animals.
