Removal of Leaves and Weeds

Removal of Leaf and Blossom Fall
This seasonal work is undertaken by the relevant area teams as
and when required. However, resources are shared to take into
account the heavier fall in some areas. Leaf and blossom fall is
taken to the composting site at Dogsthorpe for processing back into
soil improver. This is used on city council open spaces and land or
sold on, at a reduced cost, to members of the public at the
Householders Recycling Centre located at Welland Road,
Dogsthorpe.
Removal of Weeds
The city council operates a mixture of weeds spraying and
weed removal. As part of the Councils Environmental City Status the
majority of spraying that is undertaken use Glyphosate, a non
residual weed killer. This weed killer is slow to act and only
lasts for six to eight weeks. However, it is on the
Council approved list as a environmentally friendly product.
